Colin’s diverse musical CV includes boy treble, choir membership, musical theatre, writing two full length musicals for young people, musician for a Ukrainian Dance troupe. He is currently continuing to develop his voice and to explore classical art song with his new singing teacher. At the core of his musical self, however, are the singer-songwriters of the sixties who inspired him to perform their songs and to try to emulate their work.
After a long dormant phase, Colin returned to song writing when he started regularly visiting and performing at the Club in 2012. It was, literally, for him, the ‘second time around’! He is currently recording his first album of original songs and intends to play a few of them in his feature, accompanied by a special guest or two. He even hopes to record a song ‘live’ with the audience singing and playing along so be prepared to end up on the record!
Colin‘s songs range from the moving ‘Known Unto God’ and the sad and mysterious ‘Maybe the Light’, to the singalong birthday song for the Club ‘Twenty-five Coaches’ and the goodtime-sounding autobiographical ‘Doodlebug’, via the a capella historical ‘Little Piece of Paper’ and the raucous political ‘Fire Next Time’. “My aim”, he says, “is to produce a mix of tune and words that say something and maybe linger a bit in the mind.“
