The Second Time Around Folk Club, Beeston is in its 32nd year. It has had a number of homes over the years, but following the C19 shutdown (see below) we had some difficulty with a permanent venue. However, we have settled down at The Royal British Legion, who are looking after us very well! 

Most evenings are Singers' Nights, informal acoustic sessions in the smaller Members Room. Currently we charge £3 including a complimentary raffle ticket to win a bottle of wine or a CD. There's a licensed bar.

Guest Nights happen throughout the year with fully-professional artists appearing maybe three times. Good quality  local  artists appear on other occasions to celebrate Irish, English, Welsh and American music. 'Burns Night' with supper celebrates Scottish heritage. 

The Club is currently run by founder, John Chambers, aided and abetted by Sid Pritchett and Colin Tucker.

During the Covid 19 pandemic shut-down (March 2020 - September 2021) the Club had to pause its regular live get-togethers and went 'on line' as 'Folk Beeston'. We ran firstly as a pre-recorded show, with 'live' text banter, on Facebook Watch Party (click through to our 'Gigs and Links' page  to see all 21 shows on our YouTube channel, as well as other videos recorded by Club regulars at that time and the highly popular 'Doors Open' sequences where local musicians specially recorded 30-minute 'sets' to introduce the evening). We then transferred to Zoom, where we could, in the main, be 'live'. Apart from a brief summer break (August 2020) we kept going for the whole of the pandemic. We're proud of that!

We are grateful to Andy, Colin, Mick and Steve, who used their skills and energy to keep the Club going during this difficult time. During this period we also became part of the Carolan Guitar Project in conjunction with Nottingham University's Mixed Reality Lab. Click the link to learn more...

Folk Beeston - Club Show was successful, innovative and well thought of. It is now the subject of a published academic research paper, and further research is ongoing! It can still be found on Facebook.
